Toxaway Falls ,Hogback, NC, USA

Address -: Toxaway Falls ,Hogback, NC 28747, USA

Toxaway Falls is of height 150 foot. This waterfall starts with a smaller cascade, then becomes a long, steep slide and cascade into a pool at the bottom with a fairly high water volume. It then proceeds over a series of smaller slides and cascades over the bedrock. There is no good public vantage point from which to view the entire falls, only a glimpse from the top of a highway bridge or a restaurant parking lot.
From Sapphire, NC, drive north on US 64 for two miles. Look for a large masonry bridge at the base of a hill and the dam to the left. Cross the bridge and park in the graveled area on the left side. Carefully cross US 64 to glimpse the falls on the south side.Toxaway Falls is right below the US Hwy. 64 bridge, which is right below the dam for Lake Toxaway. In 1916, the dam broke, spilling the lake over the falls and down the gorge. This explains the widely exposed bedrock on either side of the falls and the river - it was stripped bare of soil by the rushing flood.
