The Teerathgarh Falls is a block type waterfall on the Kanger River. The water plunges 91 metres (299 ft) in a single drop.There are many beautiful falls in Chhattisgarh and located in various districts. One of these magnificent falls is the Theerathgarh Waterfall. This falls is also known as the ‘Milky Falls’ as the water foams and looks white as it descends the falls. The falls comes under the eco-tourism venture of the state tourism department as it enjoins the Kanger National Park. The criss cross flow pattern of water is a unique factor that makes it enticing. The waterfall has lush green forest surrounding it.
There is a Shiva – Parvathi temple at the falls and hence the falls is also a pilgrimage spot. Thousands of devotees converge in this spot on festival days to pay their homage and are also affected by the stupefying sight of the waterfalls. The place is silent and serene and visitors who enjoy the ambience are addicted to this spot. The local people visit the place for picnics and also to escape from the heat during summers and to pay their respects at the temple.
It is located at a distance of 35 kilometres (22 mi) south-west of Jagdalpur. One can approach the falls from Darbha, near state highway that connects Jagdalpur to Sukma. One has to take a jeep at Darbha junction to visit Teerathgarh and Kutumsar. Kutumsar Caves and Kailash Gufa are nearby attractions. It is in Kanger Ghati National Park.
