Address -: Maruo Falls ,Makizonocho Takachiho, Kirishima, Kagoshima Prefecture , Japan

Maruo Falls is a 23m high and 16m wide waterfall located in Kirishima City. Maruo Falls is a vertical sheet of water crashing down diagonal slanting rocks in the heart of Kirishima-Yaku National Park, an area of forests and active volcanoes in southern Kyushu, Japan, between the cities of Kagoshima and Kumamoto. The water sources for this waterfall are the nearby Hayashida Onsen and Iodani Onsen. During fall the water spray from the waterfall contrasts elegantly with the autumn leaves and during winter the rising steam from the waterfall is a dreamlike sight. You can enjoy the different faces of this waterfall with the passing seasons. During certain seasons, there will be a nightly light up to complement the hearty roar and milky blue water of the falls.
On the Nippo Main Line go to Kirishima Jingu Station, from the station take an Iwasaki Bus headed for the Kirishima Iwasaki Hotel, then get off at the Maruo bus stop and you will be at the falls. From Kagoshima Airport you can also use the Iwasaki Bus Network to ride the Kirishima Iwasaki Hotel line. If you are visiting by car, take the Kyushu Expressway to Yokogawa IC and from there use prefectural road 50 or Japan National Route 223 to reach the falls. There is no parking available at the falls so you will need to utilize nearby parking.
