The Salto de Aponguao or Salto Aponwao (Aponwao Falls), an impressive waterfall of 108 meters in free fall. Reaching her is also an adventure.
Salto Aponguao is one of Venezuela's most attractive waterfalls. Salto Aponguao is hard to reach, but its beauty makes the trip to see it well worth the effort.
Located more than 200 kilometers from Santa Elena de Uairén is, although it may seem otherwise, one of the most accessible waterfalls in the Canaima National Park. However, to get there, you must travel along an unpaved road for more than 40 kilometers after leaving the highway, until you reach the village of Iboribó . Once there, you must hire the services of a local guide who crosses the Aponguao river in curiara, the traditional indigenous canoe of the area. The trip, which takes around 20 minutes, costs between 4 & 5 $ only and leaves you on a dock just 500 meters from the waterfall.
Another option, recommended for lovers of hiking , is to simply cross to the other side and take a half-hour tour until the jump. Already in the waterfall, there is a path that leads to the base of the waterfall where you can sunbathe and even bathe. In the vicinity there is a camping. There is a boat ride through the river with the same name Aponguao. you can spend the night in tents or rent a hut from the indios, and it is safe and clean.
