The Smith River is a left tributary of the Liard River in the Canadian Yukon Territory and in the province of British Columbia .
It forms the outflow of Lower Toobally Lake in the south of the Yukon Territory and flows south across the provincial border to British Columbia. The place Smith River is located near the river southwest of the confluence of the Shaw Creek. About 2 kilometers above the mouth of the Liard River, the Smith River overcomes the 35 meter high and 10 meter wide Smith River Falls . The 254 ac Smith River-Fort Halkett Provincial Park covers the last kilometers of the river, including the Smith River Falls waterfall and the former HBC trading post office Fort Halkett .
